Why films need a specialist movie promotion agency
A film's marketing window is short and unforgiving. Interest has to build from the first look to the trailer, peak around songs and advance booking, and convert into footfalls in the opening weekend. Social media is now where much of that momentum is won or lost. Audiences decide what to watch based on the reels, memes, dialogue clips and trending conversations they see in their feeds that week.
A movie promotion agency coordinates all of that so it moves in the same direction at the right time. FNF Media has worked on entertainment campaigns since 2019, when we began promotional sprints for television premieres and regional films. Today our film marketing work combines influencer marketing, meme seeding, organic X hashtag campaigns and short-form content production under one plan. See the full list of capabilities on our services page.
The difference between a film that is merely advertised and one that is talked about usually comes down to participation. When audiences start using a dialogue in their own reels, tagging friends on a character meme or arguing about a trailer on X, the film begins to market itself. Our role as a film marketing agency is to create those entry points early, put them in front of the right communities, and keep feeding the conversation until release week. Paid media still matters, but creator and meme content gives it something to amplify.
Film and television campaigns we have delivered
Our entertainment clients include Excel Entertainment, Sony Entertainment, Balaji Telefilms and Reliance Entertainment. Selected results from our projects:
| Title / client | What we did | Reported outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Fukrey (Excel Entertainment) | Two-phase campaign: a trailer-day trend on X, then 150+ regional meme handles and the Choocha meme and dialogue audio trend for opening weekend | #1 trend nationwide, 38M+ impressions |
| Yudhra (Excel Entertainment) | Action-led creator content, Instagram combat edits and a coordinated X conversation around Siddhant Chaturvedi's feature | 22M+ video plays, a Top 20 Reels audio |
| Sony TV and Balaji | Television critics, fan page networks and episodic clipping to build prime-time and SonyLIV interest | #2 trend in India, 32M+ impressions |
The Fukrey campaign is a useful example of phasing. The first phase concentrated attention on trailer day with an organic conversation on X. The second phase, closer to release, moved to Instagram, where 150+ regional meme handles picked up the Choocha character and the film's dialogue audio, keeping the film visible through opening weekend. Each phase had a different objective, a different set of creators and a different measure of success.
Our film promotion process
- Release audit. We study the film's genre, cast, target audience, competing releases and the dialogues, characters or scenes most likely to travel online.
- Phase plan. We map activity to your release calendar: first look, teaser, trailer launch, songs, advance booking, release week and post-release word of mouth.
- Creator and page casting. We shortlist film, comedy, lifestyle and regional creators and meme pages based on audience fit and verified engagement.
- Asset creation. Our team produces meme formats, dialogue edits, reaction and review hooks, and 9:16 promo cutdowns from the approved material.
- Synchronised launch. Creators, pages and X voices publish within a coordinated window on key days so the film appears everywhere at once.
- Monitoring and reporting. A live war room tracks conversation, sentiment and reach through release week, with consolidated reporting at the end.
What is included in a movie promotion campaign
Trailer launch campaign
Trailer day sets the tone for the rest of the campaign. We combine creator reaction reels, meme formats built on the trailer's best moments and an organic hashtag conversation on X led by film fans and creators. Learn more about how we run X trend campaigns.
Bollywood movie promotion on social media
For Hindi films we work across Instagram, YouTube and X with a mix of macro creators, film commentators, comedy creators and meme pages. Dialogue audio trends and character memes give audiences a reason to participate, not just watch.
Film promotion on Instagram
Instagram is usually the centre of a film campaign. Deliverables can include creator reels using the film's audio, song-led trends, meme carousels, story takeovers and whitelisted creator ads that extend the best-performing organic posts. Our meme marketing network of 500+ pages is often the backbone of this phase.
OTT web series promotion
OTT releases drop all at once, so the challenge is sustaining conversation after launch weekend. Episodic clipping, fan-page activations, character-led memes and creator reviews help keep a series visible while viewers are still discovering it.
Regional and vernacular releases
Our network includes creators across Hindi, Bhojpuri, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil and other markets, which matters for regional films and for Hindi films that need traction beyond the metros.
Who this is for
- Film producers and studio marketing teams planning a theatrical release
- OTT platforms and production houses launching web series or films
- Television channels promoting new shows, premieres and key episodes
- Music labels pushing film songs and audio trends
- Regional film producers looking for reach beyond their home state
We work equally with large studio teams that already have a media plan and with independent producers who need us to own the social campaign end to end. In either case, we agree upfront on what success looks like for each phase, whether that is trailer views, audio usage, trend position, advance booking buzz or streaming interest, so reporting is tied to the outcomes that matter to you.
What shapes the budget for a film campaign
Film budgets vary widely, so we scope each campaign around the release rather than a standard package. The main factors are the number of phases you want covered, the mix and tier of creators, the number of meme pages and languages, whether X hashtag campaigns are part of the plan, and how much original content needs to be produced. Timelines matter too: a campaign planned four to six weeks before release can build momentum gradually, while a last-minute push needs a more concentrated burst. Our article on movie promotion on social media explains how to plan these phases.
